2nd Annual Geranium DropNew Year's Eve event | 2nd Annual Geranium Drop | McDonough, Ga
Hosted by McDonough Hospitality & Tourism Board

McDonough’s Mayor, Billy Copeland, kicked off the event at 8pm. The Full House Band and DannyRay rocked the stage!  Attendees danced the year of 2012 away on the McDonough square as midnight approached … and the Geranium Droped!  Everyone brought their dancing shoes and enjoyed bringing in the New Year at the fun, family-friendly event.

Spectators warmed up with hot cocoa, BBQ, boiled peanuts and other goodies.  There were endless food and drink specials from downtown restaurants — especially for those who remembered to purchase the Geranium Drop Gulp commemorative cup, for only $5.  Those that didn’t feel like driving back home were invited to stay the night at one of the convenient McDonough hotels.

As 2013 neared, the crowd on the square will welcomed an amazing runner, Jen Hanekamp, who finished her 132 K run raising money for the Henry County Cancer Services!  The city of McDonough was the finish line of her running over 82 miles within 24 hours — she’s ran all the way from Milledgeville to McDonough, just in-time for the Geranium Drop!  Jen’s mission had special significance, the number 132 represents the number of Georgia residents that are diagnosed with cancer every day.  Read more about Jen’s efforts at MakingTheMilesCount.com
